The PowerControl Hub powers the lightstrip and allows it to communicate with the Smart Sensor. Without it, the lightstrip won’t light up or pair with a sensor.
If you’re adding lightstrips in the same area, you can buy extensions to make the lightstrip longer. But if you’re installing lightstrips in different areas and want them to work with separate sensors, you’ll need a separate kit for each location.
In the Smart+ system, every sensor acts like the “leader” of its group. That sensor controls all the paired lights in its team. So you can set up different sensors and lights for every room in your home.
In your kitchen, for example, you can pair a hand sensor with all the Smart+ lights, so a simple wave of your hand lights up the entire space. Within 66ft (20m), every light listens to the sensor’s commands.
And even inside the same space, you can have multiple sensors working with different lights. Back to the kitchen example — you can also add door sensors in your cabinets, paired with Everywhere Lights, so the light inside turns on automatically when you open a cabinet door.

It’s not about the number of extensions but the total length. You can extend the lightstrip up to 32.8 feet (10 meters) by snapping on extensions. Beyond that length, brightness differences between the start and the end of the strip may become more noticeable. For the best experience, we recommend staying within this limit.
Yep! The lightstrip itself is IP44-rated, so it’s totally fine with dust and the occasional splash. Even the extension connections are built to handle it.
Just keep in mind that the PowerControl Hub and the power cable connecting it to the strip aren’t waterproof — so as long as those stay dry, you’re good to go!

Each light can only be paired with one sensor at a time. Pick from a Door Sensor, a Hand Sensor or a Motion Sensor — whichever best fits your needs. If you want to switch the sensor later, you’ll have to disconnect the previous sensor and start a new pairing.
